"This mysterious band from Cambridgeshire have been releasing highly acclaimed experimental music for over a decade now. “Shirk” is their newest output, a collection of six tracks utilizing string instruments and percussion in a successful attempt to fry everyone’s brains. It’s hard and unnecessary to put a label on this music but for me the impressions they create range from being in the vicinity of free jazz to some vaguely East Asian and Celtic sounding moments.
Here’s what Byron Coley had to say about an earlier release of the band:
Jupiter Dogs are a somewhat curious outfit. Previously known as Untitled, they’re from somewhere around Cambridgeshire and have a line up comprising of three electric guitars and a violin. Their self titled debut is largely instrumental, although there is some rambling vocalism attached to certain moments. The results sound as drugged as the atmosphere reportedly was, and the strings bash gently into each other as they slow race to get under our skin. The material is extremely diffuse, but its also as compelling as hell in an oddball DIY Smashchords-meet-Felt kind of way.' Byron Coley / The Wire"
